In the first three quarters of this year, the United States imported 575,538 tons of shrimp, worth $4.7 billion, down 11% and 22% year-on-year, respectively, and the average export price in the first nine months was $8.25 per kilogram, down 12% year-on-year.

In September, the United States imported 70,727 tons of shrimp, valued at $578.4 million, an increase of 9% in imports and a decrease of 2% in value. In September last year, it imported 65,122 tons and imported $593.5 million.

India remains the largest supplier of shrimp to the US, exporting 215,305 tonnes worth $1.7 billion to the US in the first nine months of this year, down 7 per cent and 20 per cent respectively from the same period last year.

In September, the supply of Ecuador shrimp to the United States 18,504 tons, worth $125.9 million, an increase of 22% and 8%, respectively, the cumulative supply of 154,406 tons in the first nine months of this year, basically the same as the same period last year.

Indonesian shrimp supplies to the U.S. fell 9 percent in September from a year earlier, and Indonesia has lost its position as a major shrimp supplier to Ecuador, which has moved into second place.
