Australia issued import conditions for noodles and pasta containing 10 percent and more egg ingredients

On 3 January 2024, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) issued a circular setting out the conditions for the importation of noodles and pasta containing 10% or more egg as an ingredient, the main points of which are as follows:

 

(1) An import licence from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is not required;

 

(2) The product is pasta or noodles;

 

(3) It must be declared in a health certificate or a government-approved manufacturer's declaration that the product was heated to a minimum core temperature of 70°C for at least 8.2 minutes (or equivalent) during the commercial heating process;

 

(4) These eggs are produced from chickens only.
