On 18 March 2024, the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) updated its fish import procedures: From 30 April, the following steps will need to be implemented in order to import fish into the UK:

(1) Continue to follow the existing import requirements;

(2) Upload your IUU (Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing documentation File) (if applicable) to IPAFFS (importation of Products, Animals, Food and Feed System);

(3) Enter the required information from the IUU document into IPAFFS;

(4) Also uploading your IUU documents to the Port Health Interactive Real Time Information System (PHILIS) if the relevant port health authority or local authority uses PHILIS;

(5) Ensure that goods enter the UK via a Border Control Point (BCP).
