According to Ms. Enrazana, spokesperson of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia, registered orchards and packing houses of Cambodian coconuts for export to China, which were approved by the General Administration of Customs of China, are now busy preparing for the export of the first batch of coconuts to China. It is expected that Cambodia will export the first batch of coconuts to China in 2024.

She said that one packing factory is currently negotiating in China and has found a customer to export coconuts to China in the near future.

In recent years, in order to implement the relevant consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries to further accelerate the export of Cambodian agricultural products to China, the Chinese side has continuously accelerated the work process. In August 2023, the Chinese Customs carried out a remote risk analysis visit to Cambodian fresh coconuts exported to China; in September, the Chinese and Cambodian governments signed the “Protocol on Phytosanitary Requirements for Cambodian Fresh Coconuts Exported to China”; in January 2024, the Chinese Customs conducted a protocol compliance examination of Cambodian fresh coconut enterprises; and in January 2024, the Chinese Customs conducted a protocol compliance review on Cambodian fresh coconut enterprises. In January 2024, the Chinese Customs carried out a compliance review of Cambodian fresh coconuts to China; in February, the Chinese Customs announced the list of Cambodian enterprises authorized to export coconuts to China, which lasted only more than half a year before and after. This is the first Cambodian high-quality agricultural product approved to be exported to China in 2024, which is another new achievement of China-Cambodia practical cooperation. So far, Cambodia has four major fruits, namely banana, mango, longan and coconut, which can be exported to China.
