Mak Ny, president of the Cambodian Pepper and Spices Federation (CPSF), said that the member companies of the federation have received pepper purchase orders from China and are expected to export pepper to the Chinese market within 2024.

He noted that the federation's member companies have already received a large number of purchase orders after sending pepper samples to China for quality testing. At the same time, the member companies are preparing to export pepper to China, which is expected to be officially exported to China within this year.

It should be mentioned that in November 2022, Cambodia and China signed a protocol on phytosanitary requirements for Cambodian pepper exports to China.

On May 11, 2023, the General Administration of Customs of China issued a list of registered enterprises for seasoning imported from Cambodia to China, marking that Cambodian pepper has completed all procedures for exporting to China and can be exported to China.

According to relevant data, Cambodia exported nearly $10 million worth of pepper to the international market in the first quarter of this year.

The federation is also looking for opportunities to export pepper to other markets, including the Middle East and North Africa and the United States. The current price of pepper is between $3,000 and $3,500 per ton.

According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia, the current pepper cultivation area in Cambodia is 6,935 hectares.
