From SeafoodSource on June 14, Spain's Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Luis Planas wants to increase Spanish food exports to China, including seafood.

He is pushing for an update of the Chinese food import agreement with a view to getting more Spanish food into China in the hope of reducing Spain's trade deficit.

In Beijing, Luis Planas met with Ma Youxiang, vice minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China and Yu Jianhua, director of the General Administration of Customs of China. Planas hopes to allow more Spanish wild-caught seafood, farmed aquatic products and animal feed fish meal into China.
