The SAMR announces information on cases of fraud and false publicity and rectification of health foods

In July 2017, 9 departments including the Food Safety Office of the State Council deployed in the country to conduct health food fraud and false publicity campaigns. Since the rectification work was carried out, various localities have collected illegal clues, conducted investigations and evidence collection through various methods such as bottom-up investigations, random inspections, and complaints and reports, and engaged in food production and operation activities without permission, production in accordance with approved contents, and unauthorized changes to production processes. Illegal addition of non-edible substances, claiming disease prevention or treatment functions, and labeling false propaganda, and other violations have been punished. At the same time, the food involved in the case to take timely control measures, identify the source of the flow, supervision of enterprises to take timely measures, such as recalls, suspension of sales, destruction and other measures to prevent the products involved in the re-flow of the market. As of March 2018, food and drug regulatory authorities at all levels handled and announced more than 8,000 administrative punishment cases related to rectification actions.

The SAMR and local food and drug regulatory authorities at all levels will continue to maintain at a high level alert, keep punishing illegal food and illegal health foods, increase the intensity of case investigations, promptly disclose case investigation information, and resolutely prohibit health food fraud and false advertisement of the health foods. SAMR make efforts to ensure the food safety for people.
