Food nutrition supplement expand the scope of use
Background Introduction
Galacto-oligosaccharide (source of whey filtrate) was approved as No. 8 of 2017 as a new food nutrient enhancer, and it is allowed to be used in food categories such as infant formula foods and infant cereals and supplementary foods. The scope is expanded to formulae milk powder (for children's milk powder only) (food category 01.03.02). The European Commission, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Food Standards Agency of Australia and New Zealand have approved their use as food nutrition supplement for foods.
Processing Necessity
The substance is used as a food nutrition supplement to prepare milk powder (for infant milk powder only) (food category 01.03.02) to increase the content of oligosaccharides in the product. The relative product quality specifications are implemented in accordance with the No. 8 announcement of 2017.
