The General Administration of Market Regulation issued the Notice on Further Strengthening the Regulations on the Supervision of Grain-Auxiliary Foods for Infants and Children (Guo Shi Jian Shi Sheng [2018] No. 239)
On December 4, 2018, the General Administration of Market Regulation issued a notice on the Regulations on Further Strengthening the Supervision of Grain-Auxiliary Foods for Infants and Children. The notice requires that infant and toddler cereal supplement food production enterprises should strictly implement the obligation of raw materials purchase and check, and do not comply with food safety countries. Standard raw materials should not be used. Infant and child cereal supplement food production enterprises shall conduct on-site audit and evaluation of major raw material suppliers such as rice and millet every year no less than once. The production of cereals and supplementary foods for infants and young children using rice as raw materials should be checked for heavy metals such as lead and cadmium in each batch of rice.
Announcement of the General Administration of Market Regulation on Further Strengthening the Management of Telephone Marketing Behavior of Health Food Production and Management Enterprises (No. 33 of 2018)
On December 20, 2018, the General Administration of Market Supervision issued an announcement on further strengthening the management of telephone marketing behavior of health food production and operation enterprises. The announcement requires that health food operators should be truthful and legal when conducting marketing and publicity of health food by telephone. Make false or misleading promotion; do not express or imply that health foods have disease prevention or treatment functions; do not use the name of state organs, medical units, academic institutions, industry organizations, or products in the name of experts, medical personnel, and consumers. Make a certificate; do not make false information on the production, production, and recommendation of health food. Telephone marketing of health foods shall comply with the relevant requirements of the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China, and shall not exaggerate the scope of functions in the label and instructions of health foods, and conduct false propaganda.
The General Administration of Market Regulation publicly solicits opinions on the food safety supervision sampling plan for 2019
In order to further improve the effectiveness and targeting of food safety supervision and sampling work, on December 25, 2018, the SAMR issued a public consultation on the food safety supervision sampling plan for 2019, and sought the relevant departments (committees, bureaus). On the basis of opinions from market regulatory authorities at all levels, food-related industry associations, and technical institutions, the “Food Safety Supervision and Inspection Plan for 2019” was drafted. The planned varieties and projects for food and agricultural products to be inspected in the plan will be open to the public for comments. The deadline for comments is January 2, 2019.
