Case Study | Unallowed food additives were labelled while were not detected, flawed label or not?

The labelled ingredient list of the marinated eggs purchased by Wang was marked with monascus colours and sodium tripolyphosphate, while
GB 2760-2014 National Food Safety Standard-Standards for Usage of Food Additives stipulates that the allowed food additives in marinated eggs does not include monascus colours and sodium tripolyphosphate. Wang asked for ten times compensation.

based on the test report (monascus colours and sodium tripolyphosphate were not detected in recent batches of produced goods), the court concluded that the existing evidence can only prove the labelled ingredients did not match the actual contents, sentenced that the label of the goods involved was flawed and rejected Wang’s claim for ten times compensation.
