An Ecuadorian company that exports white shrimp to China lifts the ban

On August 10, the General Administration of Customs of China sent a letter to the Ecuadorian Embassy in China today to lift the ban on Industrial Pesquera Santa Priscila SA (Registration No. 24887), one of the exporters of Ecuadorian white shrimp.

After the Ecuadorian government adopted a timely foreign policy in Beijing, as well as effective inter-agency coordination and persistent public-private collaboration, China lifted the ban and immediately resumed the export of Ecuadorian shrimp to China.

Through virtual inspections, China can verify Ecuador's strict compliance with biosafety and safety regulations, and recognize the outstanding performance and global quality of the Ecuadorian shrimp industry.

In the next few days, China will complete the technical review of the remaining two Ecuadorian white shrimp companies Empacreci SA (Registration No. 681) and Empacadora Del Pacifico Sociedad Anonima Edpacif SA (Registration No. 654). This process is expected to get the same result of lifting the ban. Similarly, Ecuador will sign a memorandum of understanding with China to formally determine the biosafety protocol to be followed in the process of exporting shrimp to China. The final version of the document has been approved by both countries and will be officially released in the next few days.

These moves are beneficial to Ecuador and enable Ecuadorian products to re-enter important markets. In addition, this contributes to the sustainable development of Ecuador, creates employment opportunities, and benefits approximately 260,000 people.
