South Korea issued a partial amendment of the "Regulations on Microbial Inspection in Edible Meat"
Foodmate News: On August 26, the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued Announcement No. 2020-75 to amend part of the "Regulations on Microbiological Inspection in Edible Meat". The main contents are as follows:
1. In the legal basis for the operation of the notice, the relevant basis clauses for the inspection of meat residues in the "Livestock Products Hygiene Management Law" are added.
2. Specify the necessary measures related to the inspection of meat residue: in the qualitative inspection of meat residue, the meat is judged to be positive and there may be residual substance. In order to confirm whether the residual substance exceeds the standard, measures shall be taken at the slaughterhouse before the completion of quantitative inspection.
3. The sampling site of meat residue qualitative examination should be expanded to make it conform to the characteristics of all kinds of residue examination.
4. The attachments related to the meat residue inspection are changed to meet the part of the annual meat residue inspection plan.
