South Korea releases draft for soliciting comments on some revisions of "Regulations on Import and Export Plant Quarantine and Disinfection Treatment"
Foodmate News: On September 2, South Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock Quarantine issued Announcement No. 2020-313, which intends to amend part of the " Regulations on import and Export Plant Quarantine and Disinfection Treatment ". The main contents are as follows:
1. Newly set environmental disinfection treatment standards of replacing methyl bromide (MB) and expand disinfection treatment methods.
2. Objectively evaluate the disinfection treatment status of import and export plant control companies and set the number of evaluations to manage the level (A, B, C) of the company.
3. When the plant quarantine officer confirms the disinfection result, if the final gas concentration measurement is incorrect due to an error in the gas concentration detector, etc., it can perform a precise gas analysis.
4. If quarantine pests are detected in items that may cause pests and diseases (old agricultural machinery, construction machinery), non-plant items (electronic products, etc.), the importer (owner, etc.) must be notified that it may cause damage (Negative effects, etc.) during fumigation and disinfection.
The deadline for soliciting opinions on the above content is until September 8, 2020
