According to Sputnik News on 7 December, the Russian Consumer Rights Protection Agency announced that China has proposed to add information to the animal inspection and quarantine certificates of fish and seafood exported to China on the status of manufacturers’ compliance with various epidemic prevention measures under the COVID-19.

On December 4, the Russian Consumer Rights Protection Agency discussed the export of fish and seafood to China with representatives of the General Administration of Customs of China. The announcement stated: "The Chinese side earlier proposed to amend the animal inspection and quarantine certificate for fish and seafood exported from Russia to China. The Russian Consumer Rights Protection Agency studied the draft document and pointed out that the amendment proposed by the General Administration of Customs of China to add to the certificate information on the compliance of various epidemic prevention measures by the manufacturer under COVID-19, which is subject to discussion."

The Russian representative proposed to add the above information to the appendix of the animal inspection and quarantine certificate.

The Russian Consumer Protection Agency also stated that if China adds customs inspection procedures for ships, crews and products when importing Russian products, the time for unloading ships will be significantly extended.

The announcement pointed out: "The Russian side emphasized that these measures will have a negative impact on the company's operations and will break the company's fishing plan. Russia requests the General Administration of Customs of China to speed up the inspection process of ships and related products at the port."
