South Korea intends to revise the definition and production and processing standards of various foods in the Food Code
On December 23, the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued Announcement No. 2020-578, which intends to amend some of the contents of the Food Code. The main contents are as follows:
1. Revise the classification of plant raw materials.
2. Newly established standards for Vibrio vulnificus and Cholera in ready-to-eat aquatic products with sanitary treatment and cooked food directly provided by catering companies.
3. According to the general standard, storage and circulation temperature, storage and circulation method, circulation time setting sequence, sort out the legal provisions, and present the temperature standards of various foods in the form of charts.
4. Modify the definitions and production and processing standards of various foods: add fruit juice to the raw materials of confectionery; clearly stipulate the alcohol use standards for cocoa processed products and chocolate production; expand the scope of other cocoa processed products; in seasoning sauces In the new definition of the category, if the product belongs to vinegar, curry, processed spices, chili powder and chili shreds, the respective product standards of vinegar, curry, processed spices, chili powder and chili shreds will be applied first; when producing mayonnaise A variety of raw materials can be used; the large-particle products of dried chili mashed can also be included in the chili powder; a proviso clause is set in the definition of processed spices to give priority to the curry's own product standards; The "Tax Law" newly sets the additives that can be used in the production of alcohol.
5. Revise the food ingredient list.
6. The residue limits of 79 pesticides including glufosinate-ammonium were newly added and revised.
7. Add salbutamol as a veterinary drug that is illegally added to food, and modify the use classification of 21 kinds of veterinary drug residue limit standards such as Europe and the United States.
8. Newly set residue limits for 28 kinds of livestock products and aquatic products including dimethomorph.
9. Modify the general test method.
