CFSA | Solicit public opinions for new food raw material Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM

On February 18, according to the National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment, a new food raw material, Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM, has passed the technical review of the expert review committee and is now open for public opinions. The deadline is March 18, 2021.

According to data, Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM belongs to the family of Lactobacillus, which can decompose sugar to produce L-lactic acid. It is a strain isolated from healthy human intestines in the early 1970s. In 2011, the former Ministry of Health of China included Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM in the "List of Bacteria that Can be Used in Foods for Infants and Young Children", restricting it to be used only in foods for infants over 1 year old. At present, the application is extended to be used in foods for infants under 1 year old. The food safety indicators of the raw material of this strain should meet the relevant standards of China.

CFSA| Solicit opinions on 10 new varieties of food additives including 4-α-glycosyltransferase

On February 18, according to the National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment, 9 new varieties of enzyme preparations for food industry including 4-α-glycosyltransferase and the application of food additive sucralose to expand the scope of use has passed the technical review of the expert review committee and is now open for public opinions. The deadline is March 8, 2021.

On February 8, National Food Safety Standards Review Committee issued 26 national food safety standards (draft) including "Food Nutrition Enhancer L-Carnitine Tartrate" for soliciting public opinions. The deadline of feedback is March 31, 2021.
