Australia Amends Australia and New Zealand Food Code

 
On March 25, 2021, the Australian Federal Register issued Announcements F2021L00326 and F2021L00327 to amend the Australia and New Zealand Food Code. The main contents of the revision include:

(1) Approve a natural sugar ester-Sweetosmanthusear glycolipids which can be used as a preservative in non-alcoholic beverages, and stipulate that its maximum dosage in fruit and vegetable juices and products is 100mg/kg;

(2) The soybean hemoglobin produced by the fermentation of Pichia pastoris is approved as a nutrient, and the scope of use is for artificial meat products. At the same time, it is stipulated that the maximum addition amount in artificial meat products shall not exceed 0.8%.

The above two announcements are effective from the date of issuance.
