On April 22, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of South Korea issued the "Announcement of Application for Pre-examination of the Safety Review of Genetically Modified Foods in 2021" in order to effectively conduct safety reviews of genetically modified foods. It is hoped that companies that meet the relevant requirements will apply.

Applicants: applicants (developers and agency companies) without safety review application experience, applicants who intend to apply for the research and development of new protein products, etc.

Pre-examination content: product characteristics information, whether the information for each examination item should be compiled, etc., whether the submitted materials are appropriate, how to write application materials and abstracts, and how to submit them.

Application period: April 22, 2021 ~ May 5, 2021.
