South Korea issues instructions for changes to the initial precision inspection items for imported kimchi in 2021
On May 14, South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued an instruction to change the initial precision inspection items for imported kimchi in 2021.
Food type: Kimchi.
Inspection items: (current) Lead, cadmium, preservatives, tar pigment, coliforms (only sterilized products), and sodium cyclamate.
(After the change) Lead, cadmium, preservatives, tar pigment, coliforms (only sterilized products), Yersinia enterocolitica.
Applicable date: Applicable from May 17, 2021.
