Unpacked food

Unpacked food refers to food without packaging when displayed and sold or food with packaging but in any of the following situations:
  • 1. It's not easy to know whether to unseal
  • 2. Does not have an extended shelf life
  • 3. Unsealed
  • 4. Not for the purpose of expanding the scope of sales

Unpacked foods with company registration or commercial registration shall be marked with the product name and place of origin (country). Exclude on-site baking (roasting) and on-site prepared ready-to-eat food.

Unpacked foods without company registration or commercial registration shall marked with place of origin (country).

The marking shall be marked in Chinese, in the form of cards, marks (labels) or signboards (boards), etc., or by hanging, standing (inserting) cards, pasting, or other methods that are sufficiently obvious and distinguishable.

The length and width of the font should not be less than 0.2 cm for those marked by marks (labels), and not less than 2 cm for other types of marking.

Ready-to-eat (RTE) fresh unpacked food

Ready to eat fresh unpacked food refers to the fresh and prepared unpacked food that can be eaten directly or heated (not for the purpose of high-temperature sterilization) by means of cold storage at 0 ~ 18 ℃.

Marked items:
  • 1. The name of the product, (if it is a mixture of two or more, should be marked separately);
  • 2. Net weight, capacity or quantity;
  • 3. The name of food additives, if it is a mixture of two or more, should be marked separately;
  • 4. The name, phone number and address of the manufacturer or responsible manufacturer;
  • 5. Shelf life;
  • 6. Other voluntary labeling: such as storage method or storage conditions, conditioning method for food, nutrition label, allergen warning information, etc.

Domestic unpacked foods that have passed the agricultural production verification


Domestic unpacked foods that have passed agricultural production verification refer to organic agricultural products, traceable agricultural products and high-quality agricultural products that have passed the management scope of agricultural production and verification registration set by the central agricultural authority.

The implementation targets are food vendors who have completed company registration or business registration. The marked items should include: farm, livestock farm, etc; name, address and phone number of manufacturer.

Unpacked food containing genetically modified food ingredients

Unpacked foods containing genetically modified food ingredients should be labeled with the words "Genetic Modification" or "Containing Genetic Modification". Among them, the font size indicating "non-genetically modified" or "with non-genetically modified" is not regulated.
