U.S. intends to approve the import of Lithuanian egg products
According to the US Federal news, on December 28, 2021, the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) published No. 2021-28119 document, which intend to approve the importing Lithuania egg products.
FSIS announced its intention to list Lithuania as a country eligible to export egg products to the United States. Lithuania is currently eligible to export processed beef and pork to the United States. FSIS reviewed Lithuania’s laws, regulations and documents regarding its egg product inspection system, audited the implemented system, and determined that Lithuania’s egg product inspection system is equivalent to that established by the United States under the Egg Product Inspection Act (EPIA) and its implementing regulations System.
If FSIS finally decides to list Lithuania as a country eligible to ship egg products to the United States, only egg products produced by certified Lithuanian companies will be eligible for export to the United States. All these products will be reviewed by FSIS inspectors at US entry points. All comments must be submitted before February 28, 2022.
