Ireland publishes food labelling guidelines
On March 26, 2022, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued guidelines for food labelling, the main contents of which are as follows: (1) Additional labels may be used on current food labels to cover ingredient lists, nutrition claims or origin information, on the outer label. The information must be clear and easy to read for consumers, and food business operators should affix permanent labels (external labels) as much as possible to provide the required food information for each specific batch; (2) Products supplied to other food businesses Should have complete information, including in accompanying documents indicating any temporary non-compliance with EU law, such as updating allergen information for consumers; (3) Food business operators must also review their HAACP plans and make necessary adjustments, Use additional labels on current food labels to cover ingredient lists, nutritional claims, or origin information to address the potential hazards of substituted ingredients. The guidance is only developed for the current Russian-Ukrainian crisis situation, the FSAI will continue to monitor and review the situation in accordance with any further recommendations from the European Commission, and the guidance will be updated as needed.
