India revises limits of natural formaldehyde in fish

The Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has published a document titled File No. Std/SP-10/T (Formaldehyde), amenting the maximum standard for natural Formaldehyde in freshwater and Marine fish. The major revisions are as follows:

Category I (Marine fish)

 

All finned fish, cartilaginous fish, crustaceans and mollusks except for Classes III and IV

Category II (freshwater fish)

 

All finned fish, crustaceans and mollusks

Class III (Marine fish)

 

Saurida, and marine fish except for Class I

 

8.0mg/kg

 

Class IV

 

All refrigerated Marine fish products
