On 13 May 2022, the Colombian Ministry of Health and Social Security issued a Supplementary resolution on sodium in Processed Foods, mainly concerning:
(1) As a supplement to the 2013 Colombian Resolution that set sodium limits for 59 processed foods, products that are not on the priority list of the 2013 Resolution are not subject to this regulation;
(2) Compliance: The Colombian Ministry of Health and Social Security will allow importers to use compliance statements issued by food producers (" PrimeraParte Declaration ") to meet compliance requirements by 12 July 2023. After this date, a third party statement of compliance (the "TerceraParte Statement") will need to be issued by a certification body;
(3) Labelling: Sodium content must be listed in accordance with resolution No. 810,2021;
(4) The resolution supplements the 2013 Resolution on the maximum sodium content in priority foods.
