South Korea has released the results of an inspection of inappropriate Internet advertisements for food and other products

On May 24, the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety(MFDS) published news: in order to prevent the occurrence of illegal acts such as inappropriate advertisement for food, MFDS cooperated with local self-government organizations launched online joint inspection on May 3, April 28, with the results showing that there are 264 Internet advertisements in violation of the laws concerning marks and advertisements for food.  
   
Subjects: A total of 577 online sales ads for products that are widely publicized in the media or foods that are popular with consumers will be checked for inappropriate advertising activities such as preventing or curing diseases or confusing ordinary food with healthy food.  
   
Main violations include:  There were 222 (84.1 percent) ads that confused ordinary food with health function. 16(6.1 percent) ads that claimed to prevent and cure diseases. 10 (3.8 percent) ads that confused ordinary food with medicine. 9 (3.4 percent) ads cheated consumers.  4 (1.5 percent) ads for healthy functional foods are inconsistent with the content of independent deliberation in advance. 3 (1.1%)ads have false or exaggerated advertising.
