On 26 April 2022, the Philippines issued Notice G/TBT/N/PHL/286 that the Department of Health and Welfare of the Philippines issued a draft Executive Order amending the licensing of food agencies and registration requirements for processed and other foods, and to repeal Executive Order No. 2014-0029. The main contents are as follows:
(1) Amending the relevant provisions of Executive Order No. 2014-0029 on food agencies licensing and food registration, adopting a new application system to be consistent with existing national laws, plans and policies, as well as international standards and best practices;
(2) Comply with the provisions of Republic Act No. 8792, the Law on Electronic Commerce (2000) and other relevant laws;
(3) Keep consistent with the requirements of the ASEAN Industry Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) on Food Hygiene Inspection and Certification System for Prepared Foods.
