Vietnamese durian waits to be officially exported to China

Vietnam has advised China's General Administration of Customs to complete the process of signing a protocol allowing the export of Durian from Vietnam to China, according to the Plant Protection Bureau of Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam's Commerce and Industry Daily reported on June 15.  At present, The Vietnamese side has completed all the technical documents, including the English and Vietnamese versions of the Protocol, and has sent them to the Chinese side. Now Vietnam waits for the Chinese side's approval to complete the formalities and propose a time for the two sides to sign the protocol.  
   
In order to export durian fruit to the Chinese market, Hoang Chung, general director of the Plant Protection Department of Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said companies and plantations need to meet three basic requirements: Have a proper method to eliminate pests that China is concerned about ;meet the requirements of food safety and health, no excessive pesticide residues;  meet packaging and packaging information requirements.
