Belgium's food regulator FASFC has decided to grant conditional authorization to Ferrero's Arlon factory after consumers fell ill after eating Kinder chocolate products in late March and early April, according to Belgium's official website on June 17.
Following an epidemiological investigation and sample analysis, FASFC launched an in-depth investigation into Ferrero plant in Arlon and decided on 8 April to revoke the authorisation of the plant and recall all Kinder products from the production site. In May, Ferrero applied to FASFC for the authorization to restart production, and FASFC has decided to grant ferrero a conditional authorization for its production plant in Arlon for a period of three months. During this time, the raw materials and each batch of food produced will be analyzed. only when these analyses produce compliant results can the product be put on the market. If the inspection results are favorable at the end of this three-month period, final authorization may be issued.
