Finland has tightened controls on imported food from 1 July 2022

20 June 2022 - Finland's Food Authority has tightened import controls on food products from 1 July. The main contents are as follows:

(1) From July 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022, all imported food will be inspected during customs clearance. Customs conducts sampling based on risk assessment to monitor pest residues. imported food should be stored in the warehouse approved by the customs, it is prohibited to use until the analysis results are completed;

(2) If imported organic food complies with organic laws and regulations, it shall be released, and the goods can be exempted from customs supervision. If the consignment does not meet organic requirements, it is prohibited from being sold as organic food. Inspection certificates, customs clearance documents, shipping orders and organic chain (including name, address details and organic certificates of all organic product operators (including intermediaries) in the farm and supply chain) must be presented to customs. The importer is responsible for ensuring that the product is declared organically in the customs declaration;

(3) Products related to China in the strengthened control are peanuts (12024100, 12024200) and pumpkin seeds (1207999710).
