On July 1, 2022, The United States Food Safety Inspection Service(FSIS) issued the Procedures for Sampling, Testing and Other Verification of Residual Substances in Accordance with the National Program on Residual Substances in Meat and Poultry Products (the third amendment), and implemented them from the date of promulgation. The main points of modification include: supervised sampling of meat and poultry carcasses as stipulated by the National Residue project, authorization of inspectors to conduct residue sampling, and verification of enterprise residue control procedures. The main contents of the Program include:
(1) Residue sampling plan in the US, including supervised sampling, sampling for specific projects, sampling by inspectors, enhanced detection of Kidney Inhibition Swab (KIS), detection of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, detection of β -stimulants, and KIS detection of calves (BOBVEALCALVES);
(2)Collection of animal identity and supplier information;
(3) Verification of enterprise residue control procedures, involving reporting test results and actions taken by FSIS, slaughter hazard analysis and critical control point verification, hazard analysis verification, livestock for study, verification of calf slaughter qualification, verification of testing and control.
