According to the Official Journal of the European Union, on 23 August 2022, the European Commission issued Regulation (EU) 2022/1421, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council, expressed orange essential oil, distilled orange essential oil, and folded orange oil (expressed orange essential oil) from citrus, Distilled Orange essential oil and folded orange oils from Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck were used as feed additives for all animal species. Under the conditions specified in the Annex, this additive is authorized as an animal additive under the category "sensory additives" and the functional group "flavoring compounds". The license ends on September 12, 2032. These Regulations shall take effect 19 days after promulgation.
