On August 19, 2022, the Russian Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Measurement issued a method for determining the DNA content of chicken, cow, pig and horse in meat products (Standard number: GOSTR70296-2022), which is suitable for meat products, including sausages and cooking products made of chicken, cow, pig and horse, and semi-finished and heat-treated meat products. The standard, which establishes a semi-quantitative method for assessing the DNA content of mammals and birds such as chicken, cattle, pig and horse meat, will be implemented on Dec 1, 2022.
