According to the news from the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision, the Amendments to the Unified Procedures for Veterinary Control of the Eurasian Economic Union Customs Border, which came into force on August 10, allowing member states to reduce the frequency of border checks on imported goods on the basis of a risk assessment, which the supervision said it expected to meet.
According to the official website of the supervision, thanks to the development of FGIS VetIS information system, the risk-oriented method (based on data collection and analysis: Veterinary authorities, foreign exporters and importers of history, the number of imported products, laboratory testing results, and the implementation of the country of origin of the animal welfare)has a huge possibility to be implemented , and the spervision has been doing exploration and experience accumulation on methods application field for more than 5 years (law, foreign practice analysis, methodology and technology implementation procedure, etc.).
On 25 August 2022, the Scientific and Technical Committee (STC) of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision convened a meeting to consider the methods and procedures of the risk Management System (RMS) for veterinary control of goods imported into the Russian Federation, future work will gradually reduce the workload of border inspectors and the time required for veterinary control of imported products.
