New Zealand released Draft import health standard for importing egg products

On December 13, 2022, the Ministry of Primary Industries of New Zealand issued the "Draft import health standard for importing egg products. The feedback period for correct comments is up to February 17, 2023. The main contents are as follows:


(1) Product application scope (specific shelf-stable egg products, retail ready-to-eat products containing up to 30% eggs, other products containing up to 100% eggs, etc.; raw egg products and edible eggs excepted) and documents required for customs clearance (import licence, official veterinary certificate, manufacturer's statement, etc.);

(2) The system and certification of the exporting country (veterinary services of the exporting country are required to ensure that egg products exported from that country meet the requirements of this standard, and provide veterinary certificates that meet the requirements of this standard, as well as information on the country, region or quarantine area related to the risk organisms identified in the standard for the poultry population of the exporting country);

(3) import conditions and hygienic processing requirements of all kinds of egg products;

(4) The sanitary handling requirements to be met when the product comes from an exporting country identified as having highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAI) and Newcastle Disease (ND).
