The U.S. Federal Register reported on January 5, 2023 that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued Announcement No. 2022-28428, planning to formulate the fortification requirements for vitamin D3 in some foods, specifically: the maximum content in breakfast cereals should not exceed 560IU/100g , the maximum content in cereal-based energy bars does not exceed 400IU/100g (IU is the international unit, 1IU is equal to 0.025μg vitamin D3).
The announcement was officially published in the Federal Register on January 5, 2023, with a 30-day comment period.
