Moscow, March 28 (SPUTNIK) -- China became the largest tea Market in 2022, according to the Consumer Market Insights report from German statistics firm Statista.

In 2022, China's tea market is estimated to be worth $99.8 billion, which is larger than the market size of the second to seventh largest countries combined.

India ranked second ($15.7 billion), Japan third ($14.5 billion), the United States fourth ($13.4 billion), Brazil fifth ($11.8 billion), Turkey and Thailand fifth and sixth ($5.7 billion each), and Indonesia eighth ($4.2 billion).

The statistics cover retail sales (including taxes) of household and public consumption. only green, black and mate tea were counted, not herbal, instant, herbal and other tea based drinks.
