Moscow, April 5 (SPUTNIK) -- Russian pork producers should consider supplying processed products to China instead of the raw materials themselves, Sergei Dankwerdt, head of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision, said after a meeting of the agency.
Negotiations on the supply of Russian pork to China have been going on for several years, but the relevant permission has not yet been obtained from the Chinese side, and Russian companies are ready to accept Chinese inspections. At the start of 2022, the biggest buyers of Russian pork were Vietnam and Ukraine.
"We should develop the processing industry and we should export processed products because it is easier to export them to any country with less veterinary risk," Dankwerth said in response to a question about the prospect of Russian pork supplies to China.
Dankwerth added: "We want to be able to adapt our processed products to the importing countries or to the categories of products that are universally popular around the world. "
