On October 30, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Notice No. 154 of 2023, announcing that from now on, Indonesian edible aquatic animals that meet the relevant requirements will be allowed to import.
The edible aquatic animals mentioned in this announcement refer to fish, crustaceans, mollusks and other living aquatic animals originating in Indonesia and exported to China for consumption, and the production methods include wild fishing and artificial breeding. The specific species do not include the species listed in the appendix of the “Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora” (CITES), the “List of National Key Protected Wild Animals in China”and the ”List of Invasive Alien Species under Key Management”.
At the same time, the announcement also details the relevant requirements for imports, including the requirements of production enterprises, packaging requirements, inspection and quarantine requirements.
