Australia updated import conditions for egg powder

On 21 November 2023, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) issued a notice updating the import requirements for powdered eggs with effect from 22 November 2023.


What’s changed:
import conditions for egg powder have been changed to include the following additional heat treatments as alternatives:


Egg white powder

After spray drying, the powder is “hot boxed” at 65°C for a minimum of 5 days.


Whole egg powder or egg yolk powder

The liquid whole egg or egg yolk is pasteurised at 65°C for a minimum of 6 minutes, prior to spray dry.

There are no other changes to the import conditions for egg powder and existing heat treatments will continue to be accepted.
