On December 15, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 184 of 2023, announcing that from now on, imports of Vietnamese fresh watermelons that meet relevant requirements will be allowed.
The orchards and packaging plants of watermelons exported to China shall be registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (hereinafter referred to as Vietnam) and approved for registration by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as China). Registration information includes name, address and registration number. Prior to the commencement of trade, the Vietnamese side shall provide the Chinese side with the registration list, which shall be published on the website of the General Administration of Customs and updated regularly after being reviewed and approved by the Chinese side.
At the same time, the announcement also details the relevant requirements for imports, including phytosanitary requirements and packaging requirements.
