On January 22, Quaker announced the recall of two cereal products from the Guatemalan market due to suspected salmonella contamination.

Quaker said in a statement that the two products were manufactured in the United States and sold in several Guatemalan supermarket chains, Guatemala's Free Press reported. Due to suspected salmonella contamination, the company decided to recall the two products from the Guatemalan market.

According to the statement, the products recalled from the Guatemalan market are Crunchy chocolate bars and Granola Honey Raisin Almond cereal. Guatemalan supermarkets selling the above two products include Walmart, Paiz, La Torre, EconoSuper, Torre Xpress and PriceSmart.

Quaker has made it clear that customers who have purchased either of these products can return them for a refund at one of its supermarkets. The company also urged consumers to check if they have any of the products in their homes and, if so, discard them without consuming them.

Quaker also stressed that to date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled products. It is important to note that this recall only applies to the specific products mentioned above, and no other Quaker products are affected.

Salmonella is a common foodborne pathogen that can be fatal if it infects young children, the frail, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
