Australia updated import conditions for mooncakes, egg puffs and cheesecakes

On 27 February 2024, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) changed the import conditions for cooked food for human consumption (biscuits, breads, pastries, cakes), mooncakes, eggnogs and cheesecakes. It mainly includes:

 

(1) Coverage: biscuits, breads, pastries or cakes containing 10 per cent uncooked eggs or greater than or equal to 10 per cent uncooked dairy products; cheesecakes (cooked and uncooked); and other (including lava and custard mooncakes);

 

(2) A valid import licence issued by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is required before goods can be imported into Australian territory;

 

(3) Goods must be clearly recognisable;

 

(4) The goods must be for human consumption only.

 

Effective from 27 February 2024
