On March 6, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 33 of 2024, announcing that from now on, Austrian dairy products that meet the relevant requirements will be allowed to import.
The pork that is allowed to be imported is frozen (boneless and bone-in) pork.
Edible pig by-products allowed for import include:
(1) Carcass parts: frozen unrefined pig fat (body fat, excluding visceral fat), frozen pig heart, frozen pig liver, frozen pig kidney.
(2) Others: frozen pork (including frozen pig tongue, frozen pig ear (excluding inner ear), frozen pig nose, frozen pig face, frozen pig jaw), frozen pig heart tube, frozen pig trachea, frozen pig feeding tube, frozen pig diaphragm, frozen pig liver meat (pig liver belt), frozen pig feet (whole hoof) (including front hoof and back hoof), frozen pig tail.
Pork producers exporting to China shall be registered with the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as "the Chinese side"), and the products produced from the date of registration may only be exported to China. Unregistered pork producers are not allowed to export to China.
At the same time, the announcement also detailed the import needs to meet the relevant requirements, including inspection and quarantine requirements, certificate requirements, packaging and identification requirements.
