On April 4, 2024, according to Japanese media news, Japanese retail company AEON announced the recall of about 860,000 bottles of mineral water in Japan, because some customers said its mineral water emitted musty smell.

It is understood that the brand of recalled mineral water is AEON’s own brand "TOPVALU". AEON has stopped selling the mineral water, which was produced by a factory in Japan. The company also said that no bacteria has been detected in the products and there are no reports of "consumer health impacts" and that the investigation is ongoing.
