Taiwan issues import control measures for chili powder

On April 3, 2024, the Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Taiwan issued the Circular No. 1131300580, announcing the import control measures of chili powder products. The main contents are as follows:


 (1) As of April 15, 2024 (subject to the export date), imported goods category No. : 0904.22.00.00-1 Crushed or ground chili powder and 0904.21.90.00-3 other dried, uncrushed or unground chili pepper products shall be imported with inspection reports of no Sudan red pigment detected;


 (2) The inspection report shall have the inspection method (including the detection limit), the inspection unit and the judgment basis of the test results; Among them, the inspection items include Sudan Red No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4; The detection limit shall not be higher than the Sudan Red No. 1,  No. 2 and No. 3: 4ug/kg, Sudan Red No. 4: 10ug/kg stipulated in the "Test Method for Sudan Pigment in Food (2)"; The inspection report should be related to the imported product (exporter's name, goods name, specifications, production date, shelf life, lot number, quantity, container number). Report in Chinese or English.
