On May 21, 2024, Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a list of unqualified food products for border inspection showing that pesticide residues were detected in a batch of red cherries from the United States.
The notification shows that the name of the U.S. manufacturer or exporter is THE FLAVOR TREE FRUIT COMPANY, LLC, and the importer in Taiwan is Arnis International Co.
It is understood that the batch of red cherries detected residues of the pesticide Mephenoxalone 0.17 ppm. this case does not meet the food safety and hygiene management law, article 15 of the pesticide residue tolerance standards.
The total amount of unqualified products is 585.00 kilograms, all of which were returned or destroyed.
