On June 26, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China issued Announcement No. 75 of 2024, announcing that from now on, the import of Brazilian pecans that meets the relevant requirements will be allowed.
Permitted import of Brazilian pecans refers to nuts for human consumption made from the mature fruits of Caryaillinoensis (Wangenh.) K. K. och, a thin-shelled pecan grown in Brazil, which have been selected, shelled, dried and processed in Brazil.
Brazilian pecans production enterprises shall ensure that their exports of Pecan fruit comply with China's food safety and phytosanitary laws and regulations and China's national food safety standards. The production, processing and storage units of Pecans exported to China are recommended by the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of the Federal Republic of Brazil and registered by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.
At the same time, the announcement also details the relevant requirements that imports need to meet, including food safety requirements, plant quarantine requirements, packaging labeling requirements.
