GACC Announcement No. 109 of 2024 (Announcement on Phytosanitary Requirements for the Import of Fresh Melon from Honduras)

On August 23, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China issued Announcement No. 109 of 2024, announcing that from now on, imports of fresh melon from Honduras that meet the relevant requirements will be allowed.

 

Honduran Melon imports to China are limited to thick-skinned melons, including Cantaloupe (Harper), White and Yellow Honey Dew Melon (Galia Melon), and Galia Melon (Galia Melon: Amaregal, Agrogal, Apacigal).

 

Melon orchards and packaging plants exported to China shall be reviewed and filed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of the Republic of Honduras (hereinafter referred to as Honduran Party), and approved for registration by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side). The registration information includes name, address and registration number, etc., so as to accurately trace the export goods when they do not comply with the relevant provisions of this announcement. Before the annual export season, the Honduran side shall provide the Chinese side with the list of enterprises, which shall be published on the website of the General Administration of Customs of China after being examined and approved by the Chinese side.

 

At the same time, the announcement also detailed the relevant requirements for imports, including packaging requirements, plant quarantine certificate requirements.
