On September 2, 2024, China's General Administration of Customs (GACC) issued Announcement No. 114 of 2024 announcing the repeal of the "Code of Practice for the Inspection and Supervision of imported Food Contact Products", the original text of which is as follows:

In order to further optimize the inspection and supervision of imported food contact products, according to the "Law of the People's Republic of China on import and Export Commodity Inspection" and its implementing regulations, "Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China" and its implementing regulations and other laws and regulations and the actual work, the General Administration of Customs of China decided to repeal the "Code of Practice for the Inspection and Supervision of imported Food Contact Products" (the former General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Announcement No. 31 of 2016) (issued). This announcement shall come into force on the date of publication.
