Canada proposes to establish limits for naturally occurring radioactive substances in drinking water

On October 11, 2024, the Canada Gazette website published a government notice in Volume 158, Issue 41, of a proposal to establish limits for naturally occurring radioactive substances in drinking water. The comment period is open until January 10, 2025.

 

Key points: Proposed Maximum Acceptable Concentrations (MACs) for naturally occurring radioactive substances in drinking water are proposed to be established at 2 Bq/L for lead-210, 5 Bq/L for radium-226, and 2 Bq/L for radium-228.
